Five axle all terrain cranes may be allowed to operate at 12 tonne mass limit per axle on a case by case basis.

Please note: If you select to have 12 tonne mass limit per axle your network will be restricted.

Click "Yes, I do require 12 tonne mass limit per axle" option if you require 12 tonne mass limit per axle.

  6. Urban Access Concession (UAC)

A mobile crane greater than 2.5 metres and not exceeding 2.9 metres in width that comply with the overall dimension limits for mobile cranes stated in the Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice 2011 enrolling in IAP are eligible for the Urban Access Concession (UAC).

The UAC allows mobile cranes to travel within the NSW Urban Zone during peak hour travel, on any classified State road, Monday to Friday between 7am and 9am and between 4pm and 6pm. The UAC also allows mobile cranes to travel in clearway and transit lanes within the NSW Urban Zone between 6am and 10am and between 3pm and 7pm when clearway or transit lane restrictions apply. The NSW Urban Zone is defined in the Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice 2011.

The above travel concession does not apply on state-wide public holidays or public holiday periods. Mobile cranes operating under the UAC can also obtain access into and within the Sydney CBD under specific conditions.

Mobile cranes operating under the UAC must comply with all route restrictions contained in the Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice 2011 and any related permits issued to the crane.

Please note: If you select to have the UAC, you must provide a document that confirms the width and length of your mobile crane. For cranes registered in NSW, your Special Purpose Vehicle Exemption or Vehicle Dimension Certificate (VDC) will be sufficient confirmation. Please note that from 1 March 2011, the Special Purpose Vehicle Exemption has replaced the Special Purpose Vehicle Approval. If you have a Special Purpose Vehicle Approval, please contact Technical Enquires on 1300 137 302 to arrange measurement for a VDC. For cranes registered interstate, your registering authority's approval (stating width and length) will be sufficient confirmation.

Click "Yes, I do require Urban Access Concession" option if you require the UAC.
